For those who travel and hate the exorbitant rates of hotels, Airbnb is a good alternative. This is because Airbnb rentals aren’t controlled by hotels, meaning that they get to set whatever rate that they want, which in some cases can be cheaper than going to a hotel and sometimes even more worth it.That being said, it seems that Airbnb could be expanding beyond renting out homes. According to a report from Bloomberg, the company is working on an app for trip planning dubbed Airbnb Trips. Apparently this app has been testing for a while now, and even appeared on the Google Play Store a couple of times.
According to Bloomberg’s description, “The app offers access to personal itineraries with information about upcoming Airbnb rentals, city guidebooks, dining and happy hour events.” From what we can tell, it sounds like an expanded version of Airbnb where instead of just listing places to rent, they will also tell users what else they can do in the area.
It is unclear if the app will be launched. In a statement Airbnb spokesman Nick Papas told to Bloomberg, “We’re continually experimenting with new things and we don’t have anything to share right now, but we have a few exciting things in the works.”
