The prevailing rumors about 2016’s MacBook Pro is that it will have an OLED touch panel strip above the keyboard and that it will also come with Touch ID. Given that we haven’t really seen any significant MacBook Pro updates, it is widely believed that this could be the refresh that users have been waiting for. Or is it?
According to a report from The Next Web, the publication claims to have heard from people familiar with the matter that this year’s MacBook Pro refresh isn’t what it has been hyped up to be. In fact when asked about the rumored specs, TNW said that their sources apparently laughed them off.
So if the rumors aren’t true, what can we expect? While they can’t say for sure, they have suggested that the refresh will probably include Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processors, a thinner/slimmer design ,a new keyboard that will utilize the butterfly mechanism found on the 12-inch MacBook, and a Force Touch trackpad.
Of course since both reports are based on rumors it is hard to say who is right. The earlier rumors come from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has had a very stellar record when it comes to Apple-related intel, but at the same time TNW has been pretty solid too. In any case we guess maybe would-be customers should not get their hopes up too high just yet, but in the meantime should this new report prove true, would you be disappointed, or were you already a little skeptical?
