When it comes to the iPad, Apple has offered up the tablet in 3 different sizes: the 7.9-inch iPad mini, and the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. However could Apple be considering more sizes in the future? Apparently yes, at least according to famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
According to Kuo, he claims that in 2017 we can look forward to Apple releasing a 10.5-inch iPad Pro. This model will apparently be part of the iPad Pro lineup, and will also be the in-between the 9.7-inch model and the 12.9-inch model. There are also talks that Apple could be working on a low-cost 9.7-inch “regular” iPad.
As if that wasn’t enough, Kuo is also predicting that in 2018, Apple will be releasing an OLED iPad. Right now OLED screens are only found in the Apple Watch, but there have been rumors that Apple is looking to take advantage of the technology by incorporating it into the 2016 MacBook Pro, and 2017’s iPhones, so an OLED iPad shouldn’t really be that surprising.
As for the iPad mini, Kuo did not mention what was the fate of the smaller tablets. It wouldn’t really come as a shock if Apple were to discontinue it in favor of the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. After all having too many models isn’t necessarily a good thing. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but Kuo has been pretty accurate with his rumors so maybe there is shred of truth to his claims.
