Sega today sent out a press release confirming when PlayStation 4-exclusive Yakuza 0 is going to be released in North America and Europe. The game is going to be released in both digital and physical forms across the regions. Yakuza 0 goes through the origin stories of Kazuma Kiryu, the rising Dragon of Dojima, and Goro Majima, before he becomes famous as the Mad Dog of Shimano.
Yakuza 0 follows the characters as they “fight, hustle, flirt, and dance their way through the seedy underbelly of Japan.” The game is set in Kamurocho, Tokyo in December 1988.
Kiryu’s story follows his gradual rise to the top of the Dojima Yakuza crime family right up till the moment he gets blamed for a debt collection gone south. He then has to rely on his intelligence and his fighting abilities to regain his honor and the reputation of Shintaro Kazama who is a father figure for him.
During all this, Goro Majima runs a popular cabaret in Osaka even though he badly wants to join the crime syndicate again. He needs to complete several impossible tasks set by bosses to get his place on the table once again.
Yakuza 0 is going to be cost $59.99. It’s going to be exclusively released for PlayStation 4 on January 24th, 2017.
