Microsoft introduced the slimmer and lighter Xbox One S at the E3 2016 gaming convention last month. Pre-orders went live soon after the announcement but the company has taken until today to confirm the Xbox One S release date. The company has confirmed that the Xbox One S is going to be released on August 2nd, all pre-orders will arrive on this date and the console is also going to be available from retail stores in select regions starting August 2nd.
Customers can still pre-order a 2TB Xbox One S launch edition from select retailers as well as microsoftstore.com, however, demand is high and availability is limited to don’t forget to check with local retailers if you’re unable to secure one online.
Xbox One S is the most compact console that Microsoft has ever created. It’s 40 percent smaller than the Xbox One and features an integrated power supply. One of the three USB ports has been shifted to the front while an IR blaster has also been added.
The Xbox One S comes bundled with the new Xbox Wireless Controller that has a texted grip, Bluetooth support, and improved Xbox Wireless signal. Customers can purchase this controller on its own starting August 2nd for $59.99. All existing Xbox One accessories, games, and Xbox Live services will continue to work with Xbox One S. The 2TB console costs $399, 1TB and 500GB options are also available for $349 and $299 respectively.
