So you guys might recall that last year, Spotify and Sony announced a partnership in which Spotify’s music streaming service would be available for the PS4. This is actually a pretty neat feature especially if you’re already subscribed to the service. So with the feature on the PS4, we can only assume that it could make its way to the Xbox One too, right?
Unfortunately that will not be the case, at least as far as the near future is concerned. In a post on Twitter, Spotify responded to a question posed by a user asking whether or not Spotify would be making its way onto the Xbox One, to which the company replied by saying that they had no immediate plans to do so.
According to the tweet it reads, “Hi! Right now we’re focused on our exclusive partnership with PlayStation, we don’t have any info regarding other consoles/BE.” Of course never say never as it was not mentioned whether or not the partnership with Sony was exclusive. We can only imagine that Spotify would eventually love to expand as far out as possible, but maybe licensing deals or technical issues are holding them back.
In the meantime we guess the next best thing would be for Xbox One gamers to wait for the upcoming update that would allow for background music. Anyone else a little disappointed by this news?
