It seems that over in China, Samsung has filed a lawsuit against Huawei, alleging that the Chinese company had infringed upon Samsung’s patents. The lawsuit is seeking around $24.1 million in damages, as well as pushing for Huawei to end the production and sales of the Huawei Mate 8 smartphone, along with several Honor handsets.
This legal tussle between Samsung and Huawei isn’t new. Earlier this year Huawei had actually sued Samsung also for patent infringements with regards to 4G technology, operating systems, and user interface software. Samsung then launched a counter-suit against Huawei, who then responded with another $12 million lawsuit.
In a statement released by Samsung regarding the latest lawsuit, a spokesperson told Reuters, “Despite our best efforts to resolve this matter amicably, it has regrettably become necessary to take legal action in order to defend our intellectual property.” At the rate this is going, it looks like we could be looking at our new “Apple VS Samsung” patent war.
