When Samsung first launched the Galaxy Note many years ago, many mocked the company for the large display. Who would ever need such a large display, many had asked back then, but look at where we are now. However could Samsung be pushing for a new standard? We’re not sure if they are, but either way the Samsung Galaxy J Max with its 7-inch display is now official.
We had heard rumors about the device earlier and it sure looks like Samsung did not waste any time making it official. As this phablet is part of the Galaxy J series, it does not pack very high-end specs. Despite its 7-inch display, the device only sports a WXGA resolution which we have to say is rather disappointing.
Under the hood, we’re looking at a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There is a 4,000mAh battery which given its specs, should last its user quite a while. There is also an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, and oddly and frustratingly enough, it come with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Samsung has also bundled a Bluetooth headset with the device which makes it easier for users to place calls, unless you don’t mind slapping a 7-inch device to your face. The handset is priced at around $200 and for now it seems to be limited to India only.
