We’ve seen social networks like Facebook and Twitter team up with news networks to broadcast Republican and Democratic presidential debates throughout the year and now that both parties have come upon their presumptive nominees they just need to be confirmed at their respective conventions. Twitter has announced that it’s going to partner with CBS News to live stream the Republican and Democratic national conventions.
The live stream coverage is going to be provided by CBSN, the digital streaming service of CBS News, it’s going to stream live on Twitter on each day of the conventions. The live coverage is also going to be enhanced with tweets related to the convention.
Twitter is already one of the best online resources to find the latest news and it’s a great medium for political discussions, so it’s natural for the company to increase its presence in the arena and live stream both national conventions as the presidential race picks up steam.
Streaming is gradually becoming a big part of Twitter. It has already bagged a big NFL streaming deal and has already showcased its willingness to host live sports by streaming live from Wimbledon.
