Last month during E3, id Software announced the latest Quake game that would be added to their portfolio: Quake Champions. Unlike previous Quake games in which pretty much the character model you chose was simply superficial, and that at the end of the day it really boils down to your skill level, Quake Champions will introduce a class system.
For those who are curious about this new gameplay feature, a new video uploaded by Bethesda pretty much explains the class system and what gamers will be able to expect. Basically there will be four different classes: Ranger, Visor, Nyx, and Scale Bearer, all of whom are based on classic archetypes we’ve seen in all kinds of games in the past.
Each class will have its own unique active ability, with one ability being able to see through walls (no hack required). The idea is that by introducing a class system, players will be able to come up with different ways of playing the particular character, instead of Quake games in the past where it these abilities did not exist and do not matter.
It does sound a bit like games such as Team Fortress and Overwatch where players will have a lot more to do in the game that just shoot guns. In any case you can learn more about the game and its classes in the video above.
