Pokemon GO is quickly turning into a gaming phenomenon and it seems that the folks at Niantic have already planned the game’s future pretty well. Sometimes hype about an app can quickly fizzle when players realize that there’s nothing more to it than what they are seeing, which is why Niantic has promised that trading Pokemon will be an upcoming feature.
It was also revealed in a report from the New York Times that sponsored locations could be another feature in the future. The idea is that certain establishments could pay Niantic to become sponsored locations, meaning that they could come up with features and special Pokemon that gamers will only be able to get if they visit the particular location.
We can only imagine that this will be a marketing dream come true for fast food outlets where having customers roll out their stores in droves will probably help to boost sales as well. We imagine that it might even work with cinemas where there could be special loot for moviegoers to a particular movie, and so on.
The app’s popularity is on a rather meteoric rise with analysts predicting that if handled correctly, could see them pull in $1 billion in revenue a year. The launch of the app has already seen Nintendo’s shares rise in value, and the number of daily active users catching up to and possibly overtaking the likes of Twitter.
