As far as Asian countries are concerned, so far it seems that Japan was the only country in the region to get their hands on Pokemon GO, at least officially. The good news for other gamers in Asia, a tweet by the official Pokemon GO Twitter account has revealed that the next country in Asia to get the game is Hong Kong.
The tweet reads, “#PokemonGO is now available in Hong Kong! Put on your shoes, step outside, and explore the world with Pokémon GO.” We expect that with the launch in Hong Kong, other Asian markets will soon follow, although we had previously heard that there are some in China who have some concerns about the game and how it could potentially expose the country’s military bases.
Those concerns were made real when last week, a man playing Pokemon GO in Indonesia (which has yet to see an official launch) accidentally stumbled onto a military base in the country. Just recently there was also a report of a pair of Canadian teens who accidentally crossed into US territory while playing the game.
In any case for our readers in Asia, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the game’s launch and will keep you guys apprised, so check back with us at a later date for the details.
