In terms of mobile games, Pokemon GO is probably one of the most unique games available right now as it relies on augmented reality, a feature that hasn’t really been taken advantage of much despite it having been around for years. The game has experienced unprecedented success (even games like Angry Birds took a while to gain steam), and its developers are starting to explore their options.In an interview with GameSpot, one of Niantic’s developers Archit Bhargava stated that one of his fantasies is to create a Game of Thrones version of the game, where you could join a House and enter the fantasy world of Westeros. “My personal fantasy is like a Game of Thrones game where Westeros is mapped out on Earth and you join House Stark or whatever.”
Now obviously whether or not Niantic will actually go ahead and create an augmented reality Game of Thrones game remains to be seen, but we have to say that it is a very intriguing idea and it does highlight all the different possibilities that augmented reality could be used for in terms of mobile gaming, but what do you guys think? Wouldn’t it be interesting to be able to join a House from Game of Thrones and walk through Westeros in augmented reality?
