Oculus has had a tough few months trying to fill pre-orders for its first Rift virtual reality headset but the company has finally caught up today. It has announced today that all pre-orders for the Rift VR headset have now been filled and that new orders are going to ship between 2 to 4 business days. It also announced that its third developer conference is going to take place later this year.
The company thanked customers in a blog post today, saying that “We want to apologize for the delays in getting Rifts to doorsteps. We appreciate that without your support, VR wouldn’t be where it is today. Thank you for your patience over the past few months.”
Oculus is now going to expand the retail presence of its first virtual reality headset. The Rift was restocked recently at Amazon and soon it will be available from select Microsoft stores as well. Over the coming months the Oculus Rift is also going to be available from more than 500 Best Buy locations across the United States.
The company has also said in its blog post today that it’s “on track” to launch its motion control system Oculus Touch later this year along with a great lineup of games and experiences for the VR headset.
The third Oculus Connect developer conference will take place from October 5th to 7th in San Jose, California. It’s likely that we’ll hear more about the Touch’s release at the conference.
