Don’t Expect Additional Games For The Nintendo NES Classic

Earlier today Nintendo announced the NES Classic. Basically this is a smaller version of the NES from back in the day and it comes with 30 classic games built into it. We suppose this is more of a throwback device rather than a competing console, and for gamers who are looking to relive some classics, this is a great way to do so.

Now if you’re wondering if you could add games to it in the future, or if Nintendo will release additional classic titles for the NES Classic, don’t hold your breath as that will not be happening. The folks at Kotaku asked Nintendo, “On the same note: does Nintendo plan to sell other NES games for the mini-NES beyond the 30 it comes preloaded with?”

Nintendo then responded by saying, “No. The console is a standalone device, so it cannot connect to the internet or any external storage devices. The 30 games included with the system were chosen to provide a wide variety of top-quality, long-lasting game-play experiences.” That being said, 30 games is a lot of games to choose from, so we reckon you’ll be properly entertained.

We suppose it would be nice to have newer games to choose from, that’s the situation for now. Then again it is priced at $60, so we guess we shouldn’t really expect too much from it.
