It appears that Samsung is working on a new Gear VR headset. The timing appears to be right because it’s only two months to the day when Samsung released the consumer edition of its virtual reality headset. A new listing has been spotted which suggests that Samsung has started testing a successor to the existing Gear VR headset.
The listing has been spotted on Indian import tracker Zauba which reveals that a Gear VR headset bearing model number SM-R323 has been imported into the country for testing and evaluation purpose. The current Gear VR headset has model number SM-R322 so you can see why this appears to be a successor to the current headset.
If Samsung does decide to come out with a new Gear VR headset in the coming months, it’s definitely going to be compatible with the upcoming Galaxy Note flagship and might also have support for the Galaxy S8 flagships that are due to arrive early next year.
No information is available at this point in time about the specifications and features of this headset, about how it’s going to be different from its predecessor, so we’ll have to wait for a while to find out all of this.
