This is why it was a bit odd that there were some who reported that Motorola’s recently launched Moto Z and Moto Z Force handsets would not receive those updates. For those who are concerned if these reports are true, you can rest easy knowing that Motorola has since spoken up and said that those claims are not true, and that both handsets will be receiving security patches.
In an official statement released by Motorola, the company says, “Moto Z and Moto Z Force will be supported with patches from Android Security Bulletins. They will receive an update shortly after launch with additional patches.” We suppose it would have been safe to assume that Motorola had always intended for both phones to get their security patches, but it’s nice to be reassured all the same.
If this has put your mind at ease, the Droid versions of both handsets are currently available for pre-order from Verizon and will be released on the 28th of July which is next Thursday.
