Monopoly started out as a property trading/managing game which later spawned several different versions for different countries, which in itself was pretty unique. However over the years, we saw different versions of Monopoly created for different franchises, like Star Wars for example, and it looks like we will be getting a Monopoly Johto Edition as well.
Now like we said, Monopoly partnering up with different franchises isn’t new. In fact we have in the past seen them create Pokemon versions like the Kanto Edition, but in case for whatever reason you prefer the Johto Edition, this might be a set worth picking up. For the most part it will play like regular Monopoly.
However some of the differences includes its tokens which are based around various Pokemon, such as Totodile, Togepi, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Pichu, and Pikachu, which we’re sure many gamers will probably end up fighting over. The board will be designed around the Johto Region and the game will see “Houses” and “Hotels” renamed to Poke Marts and Pokemon Centers respectively.
Community Chest and Chance Cards have also been renamed to Trainer Battle and Professor Elm respectively, and the currency used in the game will be custom to the Pokemon edition. According to USAPoly, the game is said to be coming soon, but interestingly enough Amazon already has it for sale where it is priced at $40.
