As you can see in the screenshot above, it shows how Dark Mode on macOS Sierra could expand beyond the Dock and menu bar. However it should be noted that it is unclear as to how these features were activated, so we can’t be 100% certain that this is a feature that will be launched with the final release of macOS Sierra, or if Apple is simply testing out the feature in the beta and save it for a later date.
No doubt this would be a useful feature for users who use their Macs at night in dim lighting, and where the white elements of the UI can get a bit blinding. By enabling Dark Mode, it would be a welcome relief to the eyes, kind of like what Night Mode on iOS currently offers which reduces the amount of blue light emitted by the phone.
In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding the feature. In the meantime the public beta of macOS Sierra is now available for download, so users can check it out ahead of its release this fall if you’re curious about the platform’s other features.
