It’s not a secret that Pokemon GO is a success. We’ve seen it raise Nintendo’s shares by as much as $9 billion, and we have also heard that the app could be poised to earn the developers as much as $1 billion a year from in-app revenue. So much so that according to Deadline, it has managed to reignite interest in the Pokemon movie.
The report claims that they have been told by their sources that Legendary Pictures is moving to land a deal to make the movie. There have been rumors that a live-action Pokemon movie was being planned, but it sounds like the success of Pokemon GO has persuaded the studios in Hollywood to quickly try and capitalize on its popularity while it is still fresh.
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like any deals have been closed, but Deadline thinks that a deal should be closed pretty soon. No word on who might be starring in the movie, but we have to say that given all the video game movies we have seen so far, we have to say that we are a little skeptical about the success of this movie.
