Google already has a Destinations feature for those who are planning a trip but the latest improvements it has made to search are geared towards those who are making arrangements to their trip. The company today introduced significant improvements for flight and hotel search to get more and more people to book their flights and accommodation using its search engine.
Google Search can now handle complex queries when users search for hotels. For example, they can type in “hotels with free Wi-Fi in New York under $200” and search will surface relevant results. This holds true for other amenities such as swimming pools, pet-friendliness, and free breakfast. This feature is only available for users in the U.S. right now.
Hotel results can be filtered by price and ratings while an algorithm from its Flights search is being added to hotel search as well. Users can get an alert if they stand to save a considerable amount of money by adjusting their dates slightly. Search results will also display hotel deals and discounts under a Deals label.
Travelers will be able to book their rooms without ever having to leave the search engine if they select a hotel that has opted for Book With Google. Built-in member rates for hotel chain loyalists will also be displayed in the results.
Last but not the least, flight tracking is coming to Google Flights, this enables users to track the price of a route on a particular day, they can now get notifications through email or Google Now to keep on top of any changes to the fair.
