Gemio today introduced a new kind of wearable device that uses millions of colors of light, special effects and vibrations to connect friends offline. The Gemio Band brings a new level of interactivity and style to concerts, events and festivals. It has a panel of LED lights that create countless colors and patterns controlled through the MyGemio app, music, movement and touch.
Light Effects bring the Gemio Band to life with colors, designs and patterns. These effects respond to music, movement and what you and your friends are wearing. Advanced Effects copy natural elements like fire and water that flows back and forth across the hand.
The band signals you that your friends are nearby using light, color and vibrations. The app lets you decide what these different signals mean and to assign specific colors for each friend so you quickly know who the signal is from and what it means.
Gemio Band’s tiles can easily be switched out to give the wearable device a new look and file. They are available in prints, textures and gems with new styles being released monthly.
The company has teamed up with Love is Louder, a non-profit movement, and is going to donate a portion of the proceeds to combat issues like negative self-image, bullying and discrimination.
Gemio’s Kickstarter campaign is now live. It’s seeking $50,000 in pledges and so far nearly $20,000 have been pledged. Pledging $49 entitles you to a band at 50 percent off retail price. Tiles start at $12. Shipments are expected to arrive by November 2016.
