Last week we reported on an upcoming feature on the Samsung Galaxy J2 called Smart Glow. This is basically an LED ring around the camera on the back of the phone that will light up and glow whenever the user receives a notification, and while notification lights aren’t new, Samsung’s Smart Glow feature planned to take it to the next level.
Recently the folks at SamMobile have managed to get their hands on a couple of renders of the upcoming Galaxy J2 and as you can see in the image to the right, the phone has ring around the camera that appears to be where the Smart Glow feature will reside. Interestingly enough while the feature sounds promising, it seems like it could be exclusive to the Galaxy J2.
We saw renders of the Galaxy Note 7 that did not look like it had the same feature. It is possible that Samsung will keep this feature to the Galaxy J2 and other low-mid range handsets, or maybe Samsung is looking to test run the feature before including it in their other devices. In terms of features, like we said, Smart Glow will be more than your typical notification light.
For example it could be used to glow a certain color to indicate your face is in focus when using the rear camera to snap a selfie. It could be used to inform users of the weather, like glow certain colors for different weathers and so on. The Galaxy J2 is expected to be announced later this week so we’ll learn more about its features then.
