There’s lots of good news for Star Trek fans today. According to a report, Paramount Pictures, Skydance and Bad Robot are teaming up for a fourth Star Trek movie with Chris Pine reprising his role alongside the rest of the cast of this reboot. The news comes ahead of the opening of Star Trek Beyond, the third movie in this reboot, later this week on Friday.
Chris Pine has played Captain Kirk ever since the first movie of this reboot, simply called Star Trek, was released back in 2009. He also returned to play Kirk in 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness and will be seen in the pivotal role in the upcoming movie. Pine will be back in the as yet unnamed fourth movie.
Deadline reports that the rest of the reboot cast will be back as well, and that includes Chris Hemsworth, who will play Kirk’s father George Kirk. The plot revolves around the younger Kirk crossing paths with a man he hasn’t met before but whose legacy has cast a shadow on him ever since he was born.
The screenplay of the fourth Star Trek movie is going to be written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. It’s unclear at this point in time who is going to direct this movie. No release date has been set.
