Now it looks like the company has decided to pay tribute to one of their deceased fans in Overwatch in the form of an in-game Easter Egg. The fan in question is a 20-year player from China called Hongyu Wu who passed away when he chased down a bike thief and died from his injuries after they crashed, but thankfully his efforts were not wasted as the thief was caught.
Wu was also posthumously given a Courageous Citizen award by the Guangzhou government, and it is rather tragic as Wu had told his friends how excited he was for Overwatch, and it seems that he passed away on the 23rd of May, a day before the game was released. As tribute, Blizzard has added Wu’s name to the game which gamers can find in the Lijiang Tower map.
As you can see in the screenshot above, “Wu” is written on the chest piece of the astronaut’s suit along with the phrase, “Heroes Never Die”.
