It was reported last month that BitTorrent will soon be launching a live TV news network on its BitTorrent Live streaming platform. The news network was said to be made available alongside other channels that are already available on the company’s live streaming platform. The company today confirmed that the live broadcast of its BitTorrent News network is going to kick off on July 18th.
When we heard about this venture last month it was said that BitTorrent has been in the process of setting up this network from the ground up for quite some time. It’s also said to develop a network of international contributors to provide content for its nascent news network.
Several award-winning journalists have joined BitTorrent News – or BTN – and an accomplished former CNN producer has joined the network as well. Coverage is going to kick off with the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18th.
Viewers can tune into BTN through the BitTorrent Live application for Apple TV and macOS. The app will soon be available for other platforms as well. BTN expects to provide viewers with up to 12 hours of live coverage during conventions aided with on-ground reporting and running commentary. BTN is going to continue covering the elections after the conventions aside from providing general news and running segments on action and alternative sports.
