During the company’s latest earnings call, Cook had this to say about Apple’s plans for TV and its content. “The introduction of Apple TV and TV OS last October and the subsequent OS releases and what’s coming out this fall… think of that as sort of building the foundation for what we believe can be a broader business over time. I don’t want to be more precise than that. But you shouldn’t look at what’s there today and think we’ve done what we want to do. We’ve built a foundation that we think we can do something bigger off of.”
Now it could be possible that Cook might just be saying what he said so that investors don’t lose their confidence in the company. However there have been rumors in the past about how Apple plans on bolstering the Apple TV and how in the past they were in talks with CBS about streaming, which last we checked was put on hold.
Interestingly enough maybe some of the talks might have restarted as Apple has acquired a segment from CBS show “The Late Late Show with James Corden” called “Carpool Karaoke” which they will be distributing to Apple Music subscribers. In any case we suppose only time will tell what Apple has planned, so in the meantime Apple TV hopefuls shouldn’t despair.
