It has been rumored for a couple of years now that Apple is working on an electric car, some also believe that it’s going to be an autonomous car, but so far there has been no indication from the company to suggest that it’s working on a product it has never made before. There have been countless reports of secret Apple teams in secret locations but no conclusive evidence has surfaced yet. A new report claims that the Apple Car release has been delayed to 2021.
It was previously believed that Apple would unveil its first car by 2020, but The Information reports today that the release has been delayed to 2021. No reason has been provided for this delay.
The Information reports that it has been told by someone who briefly worked with Apple’s car team that the company has been trying to deliver a vehicle by 2020 but the target has now slipped to 2021.
We still have a good five years to go before we presumably see something being made official about the Apple car. A lot can change between now and then. If the project stops making sense to the company it may even abandon it altogether.
There are absolutely no details on the company’s rumored car at this point in time, though it’s believed that it will be an electric car with a focus on autonomous driving.
