The good news is that if you are not a Prime Music subscriber, Amazon has made some changes that will now allow users to use either Spotify or Pandora as their default music service. Basically all users have to do is launch the control app, go into its settings, and change the default music player to whichever service they might prefer.
These changes have actually been made available since May but it looks like the feature has rolled out on a wider scale to more Echo users now. If you are a Spotify user, you can head on over to Spotify’s website or Pandora’s website where there are instructions on how to set it as the default music player.
There are also some instructions on how to use voice commands with Echo to access some of Spotify’s playback features. It is unclear if there will be more advanced voice control support for Pandora, but the service did not mention any such commands on its website.
