Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is many things, but most know him as the founder of the online giant and as one of the richest people on the planet. When you’re one of the richest people on the planet you can do some things that the average person can’t, such as get yourself a part in an iconic Hollywood franchise. Bezos, who is not particularly famous for his acting chops, is going to make his debut on the big screen in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond movie.
Star Trek beyond director Justin Lin and producer J.J. Abrams have confirmed that Bezos has a role in the upcoming movie, it’s going to be one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-him kind of cameos. Bezos is going to be playing an alien featured in the background of a specific scene.
Lin was all praises for the Amazon CEO, saying that having him on set was like have a president visit because he had a very big entourage with him. “But it didn’t matter because he was so into it. He had to wait around all day because it was one day we were shooting, like, three different scenes and, it was also credit to Jeff because… he just nailed it every time,” he added.
Chris Pine, who actually acts for a living and plays Captain James T. Kirk in the movie, found it intense to be around “his, like, nine bodyguards and three limos.” He may have used Amazon but wasn’t aware who this high-profile background actor was. “I had no idea who he was. Not a clue. But he was obviously very important,” Pine said.
Bezos isn’t the only eccentric tech billionaire that made a cameo in a Hollywood movie. Remember Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk in Iron Man 2? He played himself and even had a few lines with Tony Stark himself.
