According to the report, it has been suggested that Acer could be gearing up to launch a Chromebook featuring a MediaTek processor, which would essentially make it the first company to launch such a product. The notion of a Chromebook running on an ARM-based processor isn’t new, and last year MediaTek demonstrated that it was possible.
The product in question is said to be the Acer Chromebook R13, and other possible specs include 16/32GB storage options, Bluetooth, and WiFi, but unfortunately beyond that not much else is known about the computer. There is no word on whether the R13 will be adopting a similar design to the R11 which was more of a convertible kind of Chromebook, so it’s a complete mystery for now.
With IFA coming up in the next couple of months, perhaps Acer could announce something then, so until we hear otherwise, take it with a grain of salt.
