It was only a matter of time before some Hollywood studio made a romance-comedy movie based on Tinder, the hookup app that’s taken the world by storm. Warner Bros. has turned out to be that studio. Reports indicate that the studio is making a Tinder movie titled Worst Tinder Date Ever. It’s being written by Keith Merryman and David A. Newman, the duo behind Friends with Benefits.
You can pretty much guess the plot of this movie by the title itself. It’s going to be about a Tinder date that goes horribly wrong and the main characters ultimately end up together, because it’s a movie, and there has to be a happy ending. The Hollywood Reporter describes it as a rom-com with action elements that involves two people on a Tinder date that spirals into a night of one disaster after the other.
So far it doesn’t appear that Tinder is associated with this project even though it’s central to the entire plot. It’s also unclear whether this movie is going to be R-rated considering the fact that the hookup app itself is now out of bounds for people under the age of 18.
Given that news about the movie has emerged only today, it’s too soon to be sure who the studio is going to cast to play the leads in this movie, and naturally there’s going to be a lot of interest in that.
