Virtual reality is all the rage these days, many companies that are in the smartphone business have come out with VR headsets for their devices, the prime examples being Samsung and LG. Xiaomi has been absent from this market but it may not take long now for the company to come out with its very own virtual reality headset, the headset might actually be introduced in August this year.
Xiaomi’s General Manager Tang Mu has said that the company is working on a virtual reality headset and that it’s going to be compatible with Google’s Daydream VR platform that was announced last month at the Google I/O developers conference.
Mu didn’t offer a lot of information about this headset so it’s unclear what the specifications are going to be, what it’s going to look like, and how much it’s going to cost when it does arrive. It’s likely that the headset will only be compatible with Xiaomi handsets as the company doesn’t appear to be working on a headset that supports a variety of devices.
Xiaomi is best known for making really affordable products so perhaps one can hope that its VR headset is going to cost less than what similar products like the Samsung Gear VR do, it’s likely we might see some leaks related to this headset before it’s officially launched this August.
