Nerf guns are incredibly fun and while they might be marketed towards children, let’s face it, there are a ton of adults who probably get a huge kick out of playing with them as well. In fact just recently, YouTuber Mark Rober got the idea of creating a huge Nerf gun and recruited the help of Eclectical Engineering, a pair of YouTubers by the name of David and Ryan.
The end result is what could possibly be described as the world’s largest Nerf gun. The design of the gun is based on the Maverick REV-6 Nerf N-Strike Blaster, but under the hood, it features components used in paintball guns, one of which is an air cannister. According to Eclectical Engineering, “This project involves modification of commercial paintball equipment in a fashion for which it was not intended. The air pressure of the PVC components can be in excess of 100 psi and objects leaving the cannon barrel can travel at extremely high speeds.”
The gun shoots homemade darts that are made of pool noodles and its tip features a toilet plunger, so in reality it actually does stick to surfaces like its miniature version, at least that’s what it does when it isn’t busy blowing up watermelons or shattering glass. When fired, it has been estimated to shoot out at a speed of 40mph!
In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out the video above to see the Nerf gun in action, or the video below to see the Nerf gun blowing apart watermelons.
