T-Mobile Suspends BlackBerry Priv Online Sales

Things haven’t really been going well for BlackBerry’s smartphone business. A recent report revealed that AT&T is seeing a very high rate of return for the company’s first Android-powered handset, and now it appears that T-Mobile has suspended online sales of the Priv. Both carriers have been selling the handset for some time now but it doesn’t look like their customers have come out in droves to purchase a new BlackBerry.

A report was published just yesterday, citing a high-level AT&T executive, who claimed that the Priv hasn’t really been performing well. The executive said that many customers who did purchase the handset ended up returning it.

The Priv is BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone. It might have thought that finally switching to Android will help its smartphone business as people will be interested in such a device, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Someone pointed out to T-Mobile’s official Twitter account that the Priv is nowhere to be found on its website, to which the carrier replied that it’s “not currently” selling the Priv Online. No reason was given for this suspension.

Customers who do want to purchase a BlackBerry Priv from T-Mobile will now have to check out retail stores to see if they have any inventory left over. The other option is to purchase the handset unlocked from BlackBerry itself and then pop in a T-Mobile SIM.
