As we reported the other day, the decisions that you make in Mass Effect 3 won’t have an effect on Andromeda. The explanation given at that time was that this is because BioWare wanted to create a brand new story, and also because of how big the galaxy is, your actions in Mass Effect 3 won’t be felt so fast anyway.
That being said, we guess some might feel it’s a bit jarring to suddenly hop into a new story devoid of characters from the previous game, but fret not, help is on its way. It has been announced by Titan Books that there will be four spin-off novels that will be published that will help bridge the gap between the previous game and Andromeda.
The publisher says, “The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga. They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking.” The first book will be written by N. K. Jemisin and is expected to be released this coming August.
The second and third books don’t have an author or time frame for a release yet, but the fourth book will be written by Andromeda’s creative director Mac Walters and will be seeing a release in March 2018. Naturally some of these books will be released after the game, but hopefully it will fill in the blanks for some players.
