SoundCloud is one of the popular online music streaming services with more than 175 million users per month, it’s quite ahead of infamous music streaming service Spotify which recently reached the milestone of 100 million monthly users.
SoundCloud has confirmed that starting today its users in the United States will see video ads in the app. Users will see these ads when they are actively using the app and not when the screen is off and the phone is being used to stream music from the cloud streaming service.
Even though SoundCloud was launched back in 2008 it didn’t introduce advertisements on the platform until two years ago. Soon after that, it came out with a premium offering that enabled users to skip all advertisements. Earlier this year in March it launched SoundCloud Go, a $9.99 per month service that also provides access to a wide variety of licensed full-track recordings.
