In case you were not aware, Sony is now also in the business of streaming TV channels on the internet. It launched the PlayStation Vue TV streaming service over a year ago and a new report suggests that the service has crossed a major milestone. It’s believed that PlayStation Vue now has more than 100,000 paying subscribers.
Bloomberg hears from sources that PlayStation Vue may now have as many as 120,000 paying subscribers even through for most of its first year it was only available in a handful of cities.
It has only been a few months since PlayStation Vue was launched nationwide and Sony also made some changes to the plans that it offers so as to enable more people to cut the cord and ditch their conventional cable connections for the convenience of an over-the-top streaming service.
Sony’s internet TV streaming service is set to grow even more as it arrived on Roku devices just last week. The company also confirmed that the service is going to be launched on Android mobile devices in the near future as well so it can very well go a long way from here.
The scribe also points out that Dish’s Sling TV streaming service has some 700,000 paying subscribers now even though it was launched in February last year and had a much wider roll out at launch, so PlayStation Vue can certainly grow more in the coming months and years.
