A couple of weeks ago, the folks at Harmonix teased a new guitar controller. As it turns out, this is not the only thing the company has planned. During E3, Harmonix also announced that Rock Band 4 will be getting a new expansion in the form of Rock Band Rivals. It will be priced at $30 and will be arriving this coming fall.
Unfortunately the developers did not share details about the game. All they had to say was, “We’re going to be bringing you brand new features that have never been seen in Rock Band before. These are really big, new modes to the game, and players of all difficulties and play styles will be able to enjoy what we’re cooking up for you.”
However beyond that like we said, not much else is known about the expansion, although given its Rivals moniker, we have to wonder if it will have anything to do with more competitive gameplay. That being said and moving onto the new controller, this is obviously in partnership with Fender and if you did not recognize the guitar from the teaser, it is because it’s based on the lesser-known Jaguar model.
This is versus the Stratocaster and Telecaster which are obviously more prominent. The controller itself can be folded making it easy to store and bring around. It will feature an improved strum bar, auto-calibration sensor, and will be priced at $90 with Rock Band 4, or if you already own the game you can purchase it by itself for $70. No word on its release, but Harmonix has planned it for later this year.
