‘Rise Of Iron’ Title Trademarked By Bungie

Last month thanks to a leaked poster, it seems that the name of the next Destiny expansion was revealed. According to the poster, it would apparently be called “Rise of Iron”. The poster looks pretty legit and official, but as is the case with all leaks, they’re probably best approached with a bit of skepticism.

However it turns out that maybe the original post could be the real deal because it seems that Bungie has recently filed for the trademark for the title “Rise of Iron”. Interestingly enough the trademark was filed on the 31st of May which according to the description, would be used in video games and other multimedia categories.

We have to wonder how come the trademark was filed so late given that the leak took place nearly two weeks before. We suppose if we were to be skeptical, the name could have been a fake but Bungie decided to trademark it anyway to protect the Destiny IP. Alternatively it could be the real deal and Bungie hadn’t decided if this was the name they were going to use until just recently.

In any case we suppose we will find out soon enough as Bungie has announced that they will be hosting a livestream on Twitch come June 9 at 10am PT. The livestream will be about Destiny and presumably its next expansion, so do check back with us later this week for the details.
