Sony had promised about a week ago that its PlayStation Vue TV streaming service will be launching on Android, and so it’s here. The PlayStation Vue app for Android has been released today and it provides access to live TV channels on Android smartphones and tablets via a PlayStation Vue subscription. Some new features and updates for Vue on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 have also been announced today.
Video thumbnail guide is a new feature for PlayStation Vue on PlayStation 4. It lets users keep an eye on what they’re currently watching while scrolling through the Guide.
A new quick navigation feature has been added on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The menu appears over a show and lets users get to a couple of places quicker, they can quickly jump to the last channel, Guide, My Shows, Explore, and Search instantly with this menu. Quick Navigation can be launched by pressing the touchpad on DualShock 4 or holding down Triangle on DualShock 3.
Some additional improvements for Vue on Playstation 4 include a quicker way to preview rewind/fast-forward content, and favorite channels duplicated in Guide so that users can see their favorite channels front and center along with the entire channel lineup.
Quick Navigation and 60 frames-per-second video output will be coming to Vue for Amazon Fire TV as well. Android users can download the official PlayStation Vue app right away from the Google Play Store.
