Last month it was revealed that over in China, there was an Overwatch rip-off that did not look like it was just inspired by the game, but rather it looked like someone took the game, made some slight changes, and called it their own. For those wondering what it would actually play like, footage of the game (dubbed Legend of Titans) has been released online.
Note that the original footage has since been taken down due to a copyright claim by Activision, so the video above is actually a reupload and reedit of the previous footage, but we reckon you get the gist of it. As you can tell, the game looks remarkably like Overwatch ranging from its characters, its design, its user interface, and its gameplay.
Now to be fair, many games tend to be inspired by each other, although in most cases developers tend to make their games as unique as possible. For example many FPS games these days could be said to have been inspired by the likes of Wolfenstein, Quake, or Doom which some of the original FPS titles from back in the day.
Some RPGs could be said to have been inspired by the likes of Baldur’s Gate or Diablo which popularized the hack-and-slash genre, and so on. However in this case it doesn’t really seem like inspiration, does it?
