Microsoft Outlook And Calendar Apps Now Available On The HoloLens

Checking your email and calendar on your smartphone or tablet isn’t new, and if you’re wondering what the future of computing might look like, Microsoft might have an idea as they have recently released their Outlook and Calendar app for the HoloLens augmented reality headset, thus allowing users to check their mail and their schedules in augmented reality.

According to Microsoft’s description of the apps and how they might work in augmented reality, “With Outlook Mail on HoloLens, you can now place your inbox on your office wall to stay on top of emails while simultaneously interacting with other digital content in your real world. You can also quickly see what’s coming up next in your day with your new wall calendar.”

Naturally this is just a small step towards a world in which we interact with our computers through a different reality. Just recently Microsoft announced their plans to open up WIndows Holographic to their partners, thus allowing them to build devices and software that would allow users to interact with their PCs using virtual or augmented reality technology.

Unfortunately since the HoloLens has yet to be released as a commercial product, its availability is in the form of the Development Edition which will cost you $3,000.
