We have been hearing a lot of rumors and reports about the MacBook Pro lineup recently. It’s believed that Apple is set to launch a refreshed lineup. A new report claims that Apple is going to unveil the new MacBook Pro models this month with shipments starting in August. Apple does have an event scheduled later this month where it could make an announcement, so this report does make some sense.
Macotakara reports, citing a “reliable Chinese supplier,” that Apple is going to launch a new MacBook Pro lineup in the month of June, with shipments slated to begin by August 2016. The report also claims that a new MacBook Air is also going to be announced this month.
It’s also said in the report that Apple is going to discontinue the 11 inch MacBook Air and focus on the 13.3 inch version and the new 15 inch version instead. I should point out here that the MacBook Air has never been available in a 15 inch size before so this will be a first if it happens. All of this must be taken with a grain of salt for now as there’s no confirmation about anything.
The new MacBook Pro lineup is expected to feature a complete redesign, new hinges, USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports, a dynamic OLED display touch bar which will replace the entire row of function keys, as well as Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
Apple’s next event is the Worldwide Developers Conference 2016. It’s going to open the conference with a keynote on June 13th and that’s when we’ll find out for sure what products the company has in store for us.
