Moto Z Officially Announced With Moto Mods Support

Moto_ZIf you’ve always been a fan of Motorola’s phones, you will be pleased to learn that Lenovo has officially taken the wraps off the latest Moto handsets. True to the rumors, it looks like Lenovo could be done with the Moto X lineup and instead they have given us a brand new lineup in the form of the Moto Z.

There will be two Moto Z handsets in the line: the normal Moto Z and the Moto Z  Force. Both handsets will pack the same hardware and design which means we can look forward to a smartphone with a 5.5-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 820 chipset under the hood, and 4GB of RAM accompanying it.

There will also be a 13MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and laser autofocus, while the front-facing camera will be of the 5MP variety. The main difference would be that the Moto Z has a battery that will last up to 30 hours, while the Moto Z Force will pack a larger battery that will give up to 40 hours.

There is support for TurboPower on both phones, but with the Moto Z, TurboPower will give 8 hours of usage with 15 minutes of charging, while the Moto Z Force will provide 15 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charging.

Lenovo has also unveiled the Moto Mods accessories designed for the phones. These accessories snap onto the back of the handset and will provide users with added features like extra speakers with the JBL SoundBoost. There is also the Moto Insta-Share Projector that lets users turn their phone into a projector capable of displaying a 70-inch screen on a surface, and we guess the obvious Power Pack that adds battery life to the handset.

There are also Style Shells which are essentially swappable backplates where users can choose materials like wood, leather, or a patterned fabric. No word on pricing but the phones and the mods are expected to be available in the US this coming summer.
