Minecraft has only been around for a few years but its popularity is staggering. The game is available on a variety of platforms and devices, it happens to be much loved by millions of people across the globe. Mojang, the company behind this popular game, has come out a precise figure today which really shows just how big Minecraft is. More than 100 million copies of Minecraft have been sold in almost five years after it was first released.
Minecraft is now the second game in history to have gone past the 100 million copies sold milestone. It’s no easy feat, I’m sure many of you would agree.
Mojang has sold more than 106,000,000 copies of Minecraft ever since it was first released. This figure includes sales on all platforms, including PC, Java, mobile, and consoles. An average of 53,000 copies are being sold every day across all platforms that this game is available on.
The company certainly isn’t resting on its laurels. It’s making more improvements to Minecraft to keep things nice and fresh for existing users as well as to attract those who might have heard the name but have never tried out the game.
Mojang started out independently but it ended up being acquired by Microsoft, so this is something that the Redmond-based company can be happy about, one of its properties appears to be unstoppable.
