Microsoft has finally confirmed today when the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is going to be released. The company confirmed this through a post on its official blog. The post inadvertently went live yesterday revealing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update release date ahead of time but the official confirmation has now come in.

Microsoft has revealed that more than 350 million machines are now running Windows 10, making it one of the fastest growing iteration of Windows that it has ever released, though some might say the company has its aggressive update tactics to thank for that.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update is the first major update for Windows 10 ever since it was released in July last year. It brings several new features and improvements like Windows Ink, Cortana enhancements, advanced security features, extensions for Microsoft Edge, new gaming experiences, and more.

All Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users have until July 29th to get their free upgrade to Windows 10. If they don’t upgrade by the cutoff date then they’re going to have to pay whenever they want to move up to Windows 10. Those who are already running Windows 10 on their systems will be able to download the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for free.

Microsoft is going to release the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on August 2nd, 2016.
