Last year Microsoft updated its fitness tracker the Microsoft Band with a newer mode, the Microsoft Band 2. Sure, it came with improvements and whatnot, but it seems that one of the major complaints that users of the device have is the quality of the band itself, which apparently is quite brittle and prone to breaking.
Microsoft has not publicly acknowledged this, but it seems that they do know about it because according to reports, it seems that newer units of the Microsoft Band 2 are being shipped with thicker and more durable bands. These reports come from customers who have had to return to the likes of Best Buy and Microsoft’s physical stores to swap their torn bands for new ones.
According to them, it seems that the newer shipments with the Lot Number 16 are the ones with the thicker bands. There is also an alleged report from a store employee who claims that so far they haven’t had any returns with regards to broken bands from the Lot Number 16 batch, so this is something to keep in mind if you are buying the Band 2.
The Lot Number can be seen on the back of the box and apparently this issue was addressed starting earlier this year in February, so if you bought your Band 2 after February we reckon you should be good to go and not run into any issues.
