Gamers who have loved the Mass Effect franchise were probably a bit bummed to learn that earlier this year, EA announced that the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda would be delayed and have its release pushed back to 2017. This is unfortunate but the good news is that at E3 this year, EA has released a new trailer to help sate your appetite until its release.
For those unfamiliar with Andromeda, this is a new title in the Mass Effect franchise, and it also represents a new storyline as the one that had Commander Shepard essentially came to a close. It also presents the folks at BioWare an opportunity to create a new story that will hopefully recapture some of the magic from the original, according to the game’s creative director Mac Walters.
Speaking to Kotaku, Walters said, “If you go back to the original Mass Effect, there was that sort of awe of going to a new galaxy and meeting all these aliens for the first time—new races, new cultures, new civilizations. We want to bring that back.” BioWare is also looking to give players more freedom than they’ve ever had compared to previous BioWare releases.
Andromeda will be taking advantage of the Frostbite engine which is also used to power games like FIFA 17 and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, just to name a few, so there is no doubt that it looks good, but here’s hoping it will play good as well.
