The meeting like we said went well, however Blizzard did not give an answer or make any promises. To be fair we guess they had to discuss the possibility and weigh the pros and cons of such a server, as well as look at the resources they’d have to invest in such a server, but this is something that former World of Warcraft developer Mark Kern will be pushing Blizzard for.
According to Kern, “I think Blizzard did a great job turning around the PR disaster and making it a positive by embracing Nostalrius. But PR is not enough. We still need a real answer. After their work with Legion settles, I intend to pick up the torch again. I think we have some ideas on how to reconstruct the data that was lost. And we need to show the vanilla movement is not going away. I’m going to do what I can to push for the definite answer from Blizzard and see if we can keep Legacy alive as a movement.”
That being said, the folks at Nostalrius had previously posted a report on their forums in which they revealed some of the technical hurdles that Blizzard had to deal with in order to get the servers up and running, and that it was more than just flicking on a switch.
